Good enough to be used as a B-side on a single or an album filler. And a reply to Colleen Stadnick: Perhaps it is possible to find out what the «gibberish» is by playing the song backwards?

LOL. I really liked it when they added back the ska segment. It would have been ultra cool if Paul had created an off-beat funky ska walking bass line to add some low end to compliment John’s off-beat guitars. Maybe it was unfinished to the level that John wanted, and that is why he ended up deleting it….or maybe to shorten it for the backside of the single. Can’t help smiling when this song comes on my shuffle-play~!

It also means a particular type of German music, that is indeed very well known for its easy sing along quality, and is always sung in German. On the contrary,, a German sung song with a rock melody is NOT identical with a schlager, they then speak of “Deutschrock”. If you want to hear the difference, play the first hits of the German singer Peter Maffay from the early 1970’s: that is real Schlager music. In the latter half of the 1970’s. he evolved to rock music with German lyrics, like the hit “Ueber sieben Bruecken musst du gehn”: and that is typical Deutschrock.

Makes me LOL!

I now own most of the bootleg CD’s and no one apparently has the 45 RPM STEREO version of this song, making it extremely RARE! If one had that version, then the 6 minute plus all Stereo version (the complete one that the multi track tape held) could be re-assembled from the Anthology part 2 and this 45! Strange that it hasn’t surfaced anywhere.
Also, as you can now see, I believe in the existence of a multi-track master tape, whereas some do not. (Contour 2007) did that to me, and an engineer named Kristen (if I spelled his name right).
One last thing, some claimed I didn’t call Capital Records back in January of 2014, but I really did.

They hate it. It turned out to be my favourite BeaTles track in 2015. Not to be taken seriously, that’s what I like about it.

I can’t get it out of my head now. Which isn’t a bad thing at all.

In fact, this song screams b-side! I know that 45 RPMs are a thing of the distant past, but in those days, a b-side had a distinct quality (or lack of) to it, and “You Know My Name” fits the bill in every conceivable way! (That’s a good thing by the way!)

Proven because I saw some photos in a “Beatles Monthly Book” taken during the first recording session where they were recording the song’s basic track; John was playing an upright piano and George was on the Epiphone Casino. Headphones were on and all!

Schlägers means hits.

He used to show up on TV quite a bit in the 60s. I always wondered if John was doing a bit of a “tribute” to Garner on this song.

It will definitely put a smile upon your face whether you liked it or not if you listened to it for the first time. There is this Mexican band called “Disco Ruido” that sampled the first part for a song called “Mrs. Love”. Catchy.

I heard it way back when I first listened to this song on a ‘Rarities’ lp I had from the 80’s (?) Thought it was hilarious, and still listen for it every time.

It’s John and Paul horsing around, having fun with their music and not worrying about having to create a hit. I remember my brother and I playing in our basement, and recording our spontaneous made up songs. We would play them back and say”That’s God awful, isn’t it great?!” I still remember it 50 years later.

In one interview clip, John says he ‘turned it into a comedy number with Paul.’ Perhaps that means you can give Paul a co-author credit.
