I think the first two pieces of the Band on the run song are really great, but the third, the Band on the run part, is both musically and lyrically boring.

I thought the “stuck inside these four walls” was just symbolism for being stuck at home until I read the true meaning. I love how the song is likes three fragments in one.

McCartney is a great artist that paints pictures with music and song. Love this tune. He’s the best.

The title track Band on the Run is a great song, a brilliant pop/ rock symphony. In fact the whole album picks up where McCartney left off on side two of Abbey Road. Jet is my favorite song on the album, from the time I first heard it on the radio.

Paul McCartneys best album and one of the greatest of all time.McCartney was steadily getting back to form before this and then he hit the jackpot. Wonderful vocals and musicianship. Songs, Band on the Run, Jet,Let Me Roll It, Mrs Vanderbilt and Nineteen and Hundred and Eighty Five are classics. All the songs are great , showing the full range of McCartneys talents and styles. The circumstances it was recorded in are legendary. A true triumph over adversity.

I just realized that the synth motive Paul uses (the one that answers the electric guitar intro and answers Paul’s phrases in the first verse (“Stuck inside these four walls…” etc.) is practically the melody from “Across the Universe”: (“…rain into a paper cup.”).

I mean, who knows, of course, but it seems like Paul is channeling John’s melodic profile here, which probably in part accounts for the fact that this is one of his post-Beatle classics.
