Shortly after the Beatles made it big in North America, The Savage Young Beatles was released with all of the Tony Sheridan numbers on it,including Ain’t She Sweet and Cry For A Shadow, in order to cash in on the success of the Beatles.

Thanks, I’ve amended the quote. The Anthology version actually mixed two separate parts of the 1980 interview. In the first Lennon talks about the Plastic Ono gig in Toronto, but in the second bit (“amps as big as a peanut”) he seems to have been talking about the Rock And Roll Circus and how it differed from the Beatles’ touring days. I’ve left in just the first bit as it’s relevant here.

The quote about forming Plastic Ono Band for the Toronto concert and ,,amps big as a peanut” isn’t from 1969, but from 1980. It’s from 6th December 1980 radio interview with Andy Peebles. Also John said jokingly in this quote ,,I wanna hold your HEAD” as he hated the Beatle screaming shows. I hope it helps.

On the Anthology album cover, there is a poster that seems to be an album cover that say something about “The Savage Young Beatles” and recorded in Hamburg. Is that a real album, is it a variation of My Bonnie or is it something he made up?
